Since we had such beautiful weather at the beginning of the week we decided to drive down to Mankato to Minneopa State Park. We had a picnic dinner there and then took a small hike to see the waterfall.

This is Evan enjoying our picnic. I laid him down on a blanket on top of the table (with Jon and I on either side). He quickly rolled onto his tummy and enjoyed our picnic from that point-of-view.

Elijah also had a lot of fun having a picnic.

We headed out on our little hike. This was Evan's first time riding forward-facing in the carrier. He loved it since he could see everything. He is getting to be pretty big!

Jon and Elijah enjoyed viewing the little waterfall from the bridge on top of the big waterfall. Elijah was so excited (he is still talking about the waterfall).

This is the big waterfall, still half frozen. The water is flowing really fast behind all the ice.

We went down a bunch of stairs to the bottom and looked at the river up close. Elijah liked this big rock that had fallen down from the cliff above.

The rest of the trail was closed, so here we go hiking back up the stairs we came down.

Elijah enjoyed running around with Daddy in a patch of grass at the top. Evan was mesmerized by the water and didn't want to smile for this picture.

All in all it was a really fun afternoon for all of us. Elijah did have a tantrum when we left, that seems to be what happens whenever we do something really fun. Oh well!

Silly Boys

This may look a little scary at first . . . but this is what Elijah calls "Bubble Face". He has gotten more adventurous in the bathtub. He now puts his face in the bubbles, "dunks" different sides of his head in, and lays down on his back and kicks his feet while keeping his face above the water. He is going to have so much fun swimming this summer!

Here is Evan as cute as ever!

Yet another one of these pictures. Elijah squeezes himself onto the mat and then says, "Take picture mommy." I must comply : )

Here is Evan with his cute smile!

Another brother shot. Evan was getting too tired to smile.

Here is Evan at 5-months-old. Again, he was a little too tired to smile. Usually he is a very smilly baby! He is beginning to be a little mobile. He can now roll from his tummy to his back and from his back to his tummy. He has rolled a few times in a row and moved across the floor. He also pivots around in circles and can slowly move backwards when he is on his tummy. He is just learning to sit on his own. He does fairly well with his hands down for support. He also is eating some solid foods now. He has had rice cereal, peas, and green beans. He loved the peas and didn't want to have cereal after having them. We are slowly working through the vegetables and then we will start the fruits.

Food For Less . . .

Okay - for those of you who were interested in my recent Facebook status, here is how I got that food for $3.26 . . .

First, I must say I did go to two different stores, Cub and Radermacher's (this is the store in Jordan which is owned by Super Value).

Cub:
- 1 lb grapes - free (you probably saw that coupon in the flyer)
- 1 4-pack Dannon Activia yogurt
* on sale 2/$4
* Manufacturer's Coupon (MC) -$1.00
final price = $1.00
- Select Kellogg's Cereal is on sale for $1.67!!! That is already a low price, but I also had a few coupons:
* Frosted Flakes MC -$0.70
final price = $0.97
* Hanna Montana Cereal (I know, weird, but this is the only one my coupon overlapped with. For this price it was worth a try, and it turns out Jon likes it fairly well)
MC -$1.00
final price = $0.67

Cub total = $2.69 (I think I had a few more grapes over a pound and paid a few cents for them)

Radermacher's:
- 1 dozen large eggs
* I had a Radermacher's store coupon for any large eggs for $0.68 (that beats Cub's $0.99 sale)
final price - $0.68
- 1 8-oz Old Home sour cream
* on sale for $0.89
* MC -$0.50
**BONUS - I forgot that Radermacher's also doubles coupons
final price - -$0.11 (they paid me!)

Radermacher's total = $0.57

FINAL TOTAL: $3.26!!!!

I am going back to Cub tomorrow for one more package of Dannon yogurt that I had a coupon for but they were out of - I want my $1 yogurt!!!
